In my house, spaghetti bolognese has always been a staple meal. It’s simple, fast, absolutely delish and leftovers are a perfect next day lunch.

When I started making my own, I felt I was missing the zing that my mother’s bolognese sauce always had. It lacked it’s rich and bold flavour that she would master every time.
So what was the missing ingredient?
Red Wine.
Yes, all you wine lovers out there will be rejoicing at the idea of adding your favourite drink to your favourite meal.
Believe me; it makes such a big flavour difference that once you start cooking with it, you won’t ever stop!
After doing some research, it seems all the famous chefs are in on it. Jamie Oliver encourages you not worry about adding red wine to the sauce.
“It’s a perfect meal for kids – don’t be worried about the wine as the alcohol cooks away,” Mr Oliver said.
