She’s an international model, best-selling author, successful fashion collaborator and just happens to part of the world’s most talked about reality TV family. Got that? Whew! We’re talking about Kendall Jenner, of course, who might just be the busiest/coolest 19-year-old on the planet.

If the long limbs, glossy hair and enviable circle of gal pals (Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne and Selena Gomez, to name a few) aren’t enough to have you daydreaming about trading lives, her incredible sense of style certainly will. With a penchant for tailored pants, show stopping gowns and anything Balmain, Kendall Jenner means business when it comes to fashion. And considering she was one of the most in-demand models at New York, Milan AND Paris fashion weeks, and has an off-duty look we would all kill for, who are we to disagree?
It feels like only yesterday that Jenner, along with younger sister Kylie, were playing the role of awkward, annoying little sisters on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Fast-forward to 2014 and it’s Kendall attending the Met Gala Ball, Kendall walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival and Kendall featuring on the runway shows for Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana and Marc Jacobs. It’s at the big events that Jenner knows what works for her best. Long, form-fitting gowns are perfect for showing off her lean figure, and with every designer clambering to dress her, she certainly isn’t short for one.

Her black and white Chanel gown at the Grace of Monaco premiere at Cannes was a sophisticated and confident look, something you could never imagine her older sisters pulling off, and her creamy satin Topshop dress at the Met Gala Ball was pure glamour. Jenner isn’t afraid to take fashion risks either, which she proved in her Fausto Puglisi gown at the MuchMusic Awards. The long sleeved, bejeweled dress had double splits up to her pelvis (!!!) that left little to the imagination, and whole lot of leg on display. The ease with which Jenner wears these outfits makes all the difference though, and her natural self-assurance and simple hair and make up always complement the overall impact of the look. If only it were that easy for the rest of us to look that red-carpet ready.
There is one thing we can be sure about when it comes to Kendall Jenner and her fashion preferences, and that’s: when in doubt, a pair of pants will always look chic. Whether they are jeans, leather, cropped or wide leg, patterned or plain, the girl looks (unfairly) good in any of them. Not only does she prove they are appropriate for the more dressy occasion (black, wide leg for the MTV VMAs and black, cropped for the Billboard Awards) she knows how essential they are for every day. Team your black jeans or leather pants with a plain tee and ankle boots and, voila! This is ultimate Kendall Jenner go-to for castings. Got some cute cropped, printed pants? Add a similarly printed crop top and cute flats and you have a faultless dinner outfit a la Miss Jenner herself.
Forget every preconceived idea you may have had about Kendall Jenner, the girl has style knowledge (no Kanye fashion overhaul required here) and her stints on the runway have been no fluke. This is the new generation of cool, and we’re liking it.
