Get Educated In The Preppy Look

Whether you’re returning back in a few months or a school leaver wanting to make an impression on their first day at university, choosing an outfit can be an absolute chore. But it doesn’t have to be! Fashion inspiration is everywhere – magazines, blogs, street snaps and style websites (like yours truly) can help you put together outfits that adhere to your personal style.

We’ve divided our uni lookbook into both season and occasion (either lazy days and more dressy ones because let’s face it, you can either be bothered to make an effort or you can’t) to get you started gathering outfit inspo for the new semester!

Summer

Lookbook: University Edition

Nothing says casual summer day then a striped shirt and denim cut-off shorts à la fashionista Olivia Palermo. Pair with cute sandals, oversized sunglasses and a messy top-knot, and you have the perfect Summer number to get you through the day.

Nothing looks more put together (for very little effort) than a cute skirt and lots of accessories. Pair with a graphic tee, anorak and comfy sneakers for the perfect feminine collegiate get-up.

If you’re going out after a hot summer day after class, or feel like getting dressy for a presentation – midi skirts are the way to go! Classy and chic, these versatile closet staples can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Pair with a relaxed white top for a smart-casual vibe.

If you can’t seem to stop yourself from throwing on your trusty denim shorts in the morning, then I’m certainly with you there! But you can look dressy without sacrificing the comfort of your Holy Grail cut-offs. Simply pair with a light coloured top, a statement necklace and a cropped boyfriend blazer (if you’re feeling extra fancy) for maximum impact with minimal effort!

Winter

Lookbook: University Edition

When the weather inevitably turns chilly, I honestly just want to pop on some leggings and an oversized, thrifted sweater to snuggle up in. But if you feel like putting in some more effort for class, you can channel this lazy-day vibe with dark skinny jeans and a relaxed cardigan like style icon Lauren Conrad.

A sweater dress with biker boots is one of my I-can’t-be-bothered outfits for Winter. The dress allows you to keep some shape to your figure whilst remaining functional and importantly, warm! Team this classic with a patterned scarf and ankle boots to bring interest to the look.

The struggle is definitely real when searching for a stylish outfit that is pain-free and keeps you cosy. Follow in Miranda’s footsteps with classic black ankle boots, feminine scarf and an oversized bag for that off-duty model vibe.

You can never go wrong with a timeless trench coat to keep you from the wind and rain on campus. Follow in Kate’s footsteps and pair a neutral, feminine trench with simple black accessories. Add a brightly coloured scarf for a pop of colour and to avoid the black/grey winter fashion trap.
