Karl Lagerfeld doesn’t do things in halves. If he’s going for something, he’s taking it all the way. He’s shown us this many times before with his runway shows set up at grocery stores, protesting rallies, casinos and more.
MORE: Taking A Gamble With Chanel Haute Couture
This year, Chanel mixed one of the most desirable aspects of life with their Spring Summer 2016 ready to wear collection. Producing Chanel Airlines, Karl and his swarm of fantastic models strolled through their Chanel-made airport as well-dressed travellers, giving a whole new meaning to the term ‘airport style’.
Set in Paris’ Grand Palais, the airport set was quite convincing with check in desks, ticketing and branded luggage carts. Travel is something so important to the jet-set fashionista and this is something Karl has used over the past years as themes for his show.
Twitter and Instagram proceeded to explode with #ChanelAirlines as models walked through the terminals showing off the latest collection. And boy, was it busy! With almost 100 looks to show in the ready to wear collection the audience had their hands full checking out the latest collection from the iconic Karl Lagerfeld.
Speaking of the latest collection, the classic Chanel suit has been revived once more and Karl has showed us what we should be looking like at the airport, minus the blue eye-mask makeup. Looking sophisticated is what one should be dressed like when boarding a plane and the models looked first class in their ensembles.
Patterns are very in this season with plaid and paint-wash being a go-to. There were also a lot of whites with colour pops to add in. Besides the classic Chanel styled suit, a-line skirts and loose fitted items were number one as well as the denim look with dresses and skirts and jean-blue.
While the collection is amazing, we would have to say that our must have piece for travel would be the plane inspired sweater and pants combo to wear aboard the plane – only in first class of course.
Check out the whole collection below and let us know what your must have is this season.
