Through all the blow drying, heat styling, and colouring, not to mention the sun, dirt, and pollution in the air, our hair can become quite damaged.

If your hair is losing its shine, is prone to breakage, or you just want to keep it healthy and growing fast – here are some easy tips to keep your hair luscious.
- Only shampoo the roots of your hair. The main parts of your hair that get dirty are the roots. This is because of the oils that your scalp create. When you shampoo the roots of your hair it prevents the ends of your hair from drying out.
- Condition the ends of your hair. If you’ve been conditioning your whole head – stop right now! When you condition the roots of your hair it gets greasier quicker, which in turn makes you wash your hair more. Washing your hair more frequently dries it out.
- Wash your hair less. Like I said before, constantly washing your hair will dry it out. When you leave your hair for a few days, it allows for the natural oils on your scalp to absorb into your hair follicles and keeps your hair nice and strong.
- Try a different shampoo. Avoid shampoos with alcohol, sulphates, and silicones, as these tend to dry hair out.
- Avoid tight hair ties. Using tight hair ties is one of the causes of breakage. Try using a clip instead, and if you’re game enough, a scrunchy.
- Don’t play with wet hair. When your hair is wet it’s at its weakest. Try not to play with it too much, even brushing it will cause a lot of breakage and fallout.
- Use cold water. Washing your hair in cold water is super beneficial. It seals in moisture and shine. Hot water tends to cause frizz.
- Sleep on a silk pillowcase. Silk pillowcases are amazing for your hair and even your skin. When you sleep on a silk pillowcase there is less breakage from tossing and turning all night.
- Use a t-shirt to dry. After your shower don’t dry your hair with a towel – use an old t-shirt instead. T-shirts absorb a lot of the water and are softer on your hair. This causes less frizz and breakage.
- Avoid heat. The last tip is mainly common sense – avoid heat appliances! If you don’t need to use a blow drier or straightener, don’t. This dries out your hair and is a big cause of breakage.
