Short Break: Sydney

sydney

In preparation for my imminent trip to Sydney next week (a little work, a lot of pleasure), I have concocted a perfect day and night in the big city (and its surrounds.)

Brunch

There is only one place to start the day and that is Newtown. An inner west suburb only a bus hop away from the city hubbub, Newtown is teaming with fashionable eateries. Vargabar Espresso on King Street offers up handcrafted coffee and rustic breakfast options. Ricotta and Strawberry Pancakes anyone?

Shop

When in Newtown? The bustling streets are a veritable feast of thrift shops, tattoo joints and chill bars. Wile away the hours taking in the shops, sights and sounds. You might be lucky enough to see the man with the parrot on his shoulder, who is very well known to locals.

Lunch

Hit up Chinatown in the city for some bubble tea and authentic Asian eats. It is easy to transport yourself to another continent, whilst traipsing around this Oriental hub.

Drinks

SydneySydney is the nightlife capital of the country. It is really really hard to pick just one place to park yourself for the evening.
If we have to choose though, it is Darling Harbour and the super funky Home bar. Boats bobbing in the bay, clicking high heels and clinking glasses always manage to evoke the same excitement this Irish chick experienced when she set foot in Sydney 5 years ago. Any hot Sydney sojourn tips for us?
