It wasn’t set in the usual Lexington Avenue Armoury, but Marc Jacobs was still excited about his Ziegfeld Theatre venue for his spring 2016 ready to wear collection showing.

Growing up in New York, Jacobs is an expert on what makes a New York Fashion Week collection tick and what makes it memorable.

The Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 collection was definitely memorable. It’s exuberance was shared with some of the public, making New York Fashion Week less exclusive to insiders than it used to be; which is definitely not a bad thing.

With a roster of models including Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, Adriana Lima and Emily Ratajkowski, Jacobs may not have been in the Armoury, but he certainly had a whole lot of model ammunition, with the added extra of popcorn included.

The collection was all red, white and blue, seemingly inspired by a back to school theme with band sweaters, checkered skirts and bomber jackets emblazoned with patches and buttons.

Much of the collection was all stars and stripes, throwing a slap of patriotism onto the spring collection. Dotted with nostalgia, from the embellished jackets, to the candy striper dresses, the collection was an original version of American history, complete with a film section which was represented with Janet Leigh’s iconic Psycho shower scene face.

Marc Jacobs also won fans over with Beth Ditto hitting the runway; a plus size model in New York Fashion Week is a refreshing change. In a flurry of red, white and blue stripes, patterns and embellishments, Beth appeared in a white silk gown complete with fur stole, like a breath of fresh air.
