One of the main cons of colouring your hair is that it can be really damaging. Imagine split ends, breakage, dryness…everything you don’t want for your hair! But, did you know there are a few natural ways to lighten your hair without all the chemical damage?

The colour change won’t be really drastic, but you hair will lift at least one to two shades lighter.
Lemon
Using lemon on your hair is one of the most popular ways to lighten hair colour. Use lemon juice diluted with water (½ lemon juice ½ water) and soak your hair. Sit in the sun until your hair is dry. Do this method a few times until your hair lightens as much as you want.
Cinnamon
For a more subtle change in your hair colour try a cinnamon mask. Mix cinnamon with your conditioner until it forms a thick paste (use about ½ cup of conditioner). Apply this paste onto your hair and leave it in for three to four hours or overnight (the longer you leave it the better). Wash it out thoroughly and you should see results in the morning!
Camomile Tea
Brew a strong cup of camomile tea and wait until it cools. Pour the cooled tea onto your hair, or individual strands for highlights, and then sit in the sun until it dries. This is similar to the lemon method, or you could soak your hair in the camomile overnight. Repeat either method until your hair lightens to how you want it.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is great for a lot of things, and lightening your hair is one of them. Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with water and use it to rinse your hair once a month, after you’ve washed your hair. Doing this will gradually lighten your hair. You’ll want to do this once a month because baking soda can be damaging on hair cuticles if used too often.
