Firstly, if you’re a fake nail addict, I’d lay off the acrylic nails for a while. That also applies to stick-ons, shellac, and SNS. Give your nails some time to breathe and strengthen without being suffocated by the fake stuff.

You’ll also want to avoid nail polish. Like fake nails, nail polish prevents your nails from breathing properly, which leaves them weak and flimsy.

Flaky nails are usually caused by your nails being dry. If you use your hands a lot with work or they’re always in water this can be very damaging – but sometimes its unavoidable!

The first thing you’ll want to do it cut all your nails down. Not too far down, just enough to cut away all the chipping and peeling. Give them a light buff and file to get them smooth and ready to start growling properly.

The best way to hydrate your nails is with oil. You can buy cuticle oils that are easy to slather on and rub into your cuticles, or you can use straight olive oil on a cotton tip and rub it over your nails. Rub it in with your fingers and let it soak overnight.

Lemon baths are also a great way to toughen your nails. Soak them in warm water with a splash of lemon juice for 5-10 minutes. Your nails will be stronger in no time!
