When we think back on 2015 I’m sure we can all remember it as a great year. It had its up and downs, sure, but it was a crazy twelve months. Kanye West planed to run for President in the 2020 election.
Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ video almost broke the internet. It was the return of Adele. Gay marriage finally went to the Supreme Court, and Caitlyn Jenner was born. But – It was also a really good year for fashion.
Let’s take a look at the best fashion moments of 2015.
Zoolander crashed Valentino
Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson crashed the Fall 2015 Valentino runway at Paris Fashion Week to announce the sequel to Zoolander 2. It was absolutely fabulous.
Givenchy went to New York
For the very first time, Givenchy went to New York Fashion Week instead of showing in Paris. They moved the 2016 spring collection to NYFW to mark the opening of their new flagship store.
Rihanna’s pizza dress
This dress had a string of memes attached to it. You may have seen it as a pizza, an omelette, or even as Big Bird. The dress was made by Chinese couturier Guo Pei, and Rihanna wore it to the 2015 Met Gala. It weighed 55 lbs, and took almost two years to make. Rihanna killed the runway.
“Call me Caitlyn”
Caitlyn Jenner made her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair. This was a huge moment for the transgender community and an big step forward.
Kendall and Gigi become VS Angels
Supermodel best friends Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid earned their Victoria Secret wings when they walked in the VS fashion show for the very first time.
Sibling power
Top models joined by their sister featured in Balmain’s 2015 campaign. The Jenner sisters, the Smalls sisters, and the Hadid sisters nailed the campaign.
Nike and Back to the Future
Tinker Hatfield, Nike’s shoe designer, finally re-created the pair of Nike Mags that featured in the 1989 film Back to the Future 2. After 25 years the the limited edition release of the shoes were auctioned off with all proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
