Pros and cons of cosmetic tattooing

Beauty tattoos are all the rage lately with brows, eyeliner and lip liner being permanently added to facial features quite liberally.

But with any tattoos come horror stories and these of uneven brows, too-thick eyeliner and dark 90s-inspired lip liner etched into the skin are no different.

Cosmetic tattooing is a personal choice, but one we need to think carefully about. Though you do have to get the tattoos touched up during their wear, they are also permanent reminders of what could go wrong.

So we’ve broken down the pros and cons of cosmetics tattooing to help you out with your decision.

Pro: You’re always wearing ‘makeup’

When you get your brows done, you don’t really have to worry about putting them on everyday, and the same with eyeliner. In fact, if you got a lash tint and a liner tattoo, you could ditch the mascara and eyeliner on days you didn’t feel like it, making your morning routine that much easier.

Con: If it goes wrong, it’s always wrong

If you look in the mirror only to find that the tattooist has done your brows too dark, unevenly or too thick, you’re stuck with it. The same with your liner and your lips. If it’s wrong now, it will be wrong for a while and unfortunately, tattoo removal can be even more painful than getting the tattoo in the first place.

Con: Your ‘professional’ isn’t you

Sometimes a professional knows what looks good on you, and sometimes, they’re not a true professional. It’s quite easy to get your hands on tattoo equipment in salons and if the user isn’t properly trained, you could end up looking like your worst nightmare. Do your research properly and only go to someone who is properly qualified.

All in all, cosmetic tattooing is a very personal choice and it involves a lot of research, so make sure to find out all you can before taking the ink and needle to your face.
