The wardrobe transition from summer to autumn can be plagued by crazy and unpredictable weather. One of the best ways to stay warm and prepare for whatever mother nature throws at you is by layering.

With maximalism a huge trend on the runway for autumn/winter, it pays to know the dos and don’ts of layering so that your clothes aren’t wearing you. There can be as little as one layer between looking fabulous and looking frumpy.
Accentuating the waist is key to keeping your frame small as adding layers automatically increases the look of your body. By accentuating the waist and building around this, the layering that you add on will look flattering rather than fattening. Don’t add too many thick layers as it will widen your frame; instead try layering thinner pieces to create a unique look.
By layering, you are able to get more use out of your summer wardrobe. Wearing summer dresses and skirts with stockings and boots enables you to show off your legs. Add a leather jacket and scarf or try a cape or long cardigan for something different and cosy. Make sure to balance your boxy or baggy items with fitted pieces so that you can still show off your best assets. Winter isn’t just about blacks and greys, add some patterns or pops of colour into your outfit to keep it fresh and fun.
Finally, layering also means picking killer accessories to finish off your outfit. Necklaces under scarves, wrist pieces and hats and beanies will finish off your layered look, just be careful not to overdo it.
