And it’s okay to indulge around the silly season because it’s an end of year celebration for all the hard work you’ve been doing all year, but you don’t want to let go so far as to ruin said hard work and have to start all over come February.

Staying trim and in shape over the holidays is not only going to be helpful for all the outfits you’ve planned, but also for your energy levels and your self confidence. There are a few tricks to having your cake, eating it too and staying fit over the Christmas, because no one ever wants to hear the harsh weight words from their grandma.

Keep up the exercise

We know it can be hard to keep up your daily gym routine when you’re having a break from work, but it’s important to keep up the number of session and intensity that has helped you get that rockin’ bod. If you’re away with the family, you can always enlist workout buddies to inspire your training and inspire them to get fitter. If there’s no gym nearby, get out on the beach or to the park and make up your own rules.

Indulge… in moderation

It’s all well and good to have a sample of this and a sample of that, but know when to stop. Don’t punish yourself and have no treats (unless you want to), but keep a watch on your calorie intake and make sure to put plenty of veggies on your plate as well.

Ditch the drinks

Stick to water as your holiday beverage of choice – it has zero calories, will keep you hydrated and will keep your skin looking fabulous. Staying away from the alcohol and soft drinks will keep the extra and unneeded calories at bay and keep you feeling great.

Don’t skip breakfast

Or any meal really. Skipping meals is not the way to go, because you’re going to binge in your next meal. Skipping breakfast is a surefire way to make some bad food decisions later in the day. Keep your breakfast nutritious so that you feel fuller for longer and can eschew those mid morning snacks.
