Local Supply are a small Sydney-based design team with a big dream: the vision to create sunglasses for locals everywhere. The story of Local Supply began with four close friends who started making sunglasses after breaking one too many pairs of expensive sunglasses due to big nights or bad co-ordination.
They also found that a lot of designer sunglasses were fragile, overpriced and impractical – but cheaper sunglasses lacked soul, and quality.
The Local Supply team says:
“We wanted to create sunglasses for locals, like us. Sunglasses that we could wear to our local beach, park, pub, or concert – sunglasses that don’t break the bank (and don’t feel like you bought them with $20 of petrol) all without having to worry about breaking or losing them.”
The spring/summer model combines classic styling: a deconstructed version of the iconic wayfarer silhouette made with premium materials like lightweight polycarbonate frames, articulating spring hinges and anti-scratch polarised lenses. Kate Peck brings an androgynous, cool sexy vibe as she fronts the first campaign.
The one unisex model comes in a myriad of fresh colourways like the ‘Bruce Waynes’ matte black frames with sunset mirrorways, ‘Willy Wonkas’ frosted pink frames with moonshine mirrorways and candy green-frames with black lensed ‘Kermits’.
All at a price point of $59.95, Local Supply is available now from David Jones stores and localsupply.com.
