The inaugural Sephora Australia store opened with a bang at midday on Friday seeing legions of eager fans pass through the doors for the first time. Waves of customers continued unabated until store close at 9pm, and with them global records were smashed, marking it as one of the most successful launches for the brand ever.

“While our brand DNA is all about letting our customers explore, sample and discover, with no pressure to buy, buy they did in record breaking numbers!” Sephora Australia country manager, Fiona Novak, said.
“Our Sydney launch has broken sales records for any Sephora opening, and the atmosphere in store is simply electric!”
World renowned tattoo artist Kat Von D, who has since launched a successful namesake makeup range, visited Sydney as part of the opening celebrations. Kat Von D met with 300 fans in the store on the Saturday, each of whom had purchased from her eponymous range. Customers continued to do so with such enthusiasm that several product lines completely sold out.
“The fantastic reaction to Kat Von D and her makeup range far exceeded our expectation, and we are now express delivering new stock to keep up with demand,” Novak said.
If the launch weekend here in Sydney is anything to go by, a long and fruitful future for the brand looks assured.
