Here, we’ll share with you our top favourite trends from the catwalk to change up your boring makeup routine for Autumn!
Bright eyes, white lines
White eyeliner and mascara were a big deal for designer Alexander McQueen, whose seasonal collection channelled that romantic Gothic era. The white liner surrounding the entire eye – top and bottom – paired with light lashes brought attention to the model’s eyes without using boring black. For a wearable look, line the upper lashes with black liquid liner first, and draw a thin line of white on top to add interest.
Just bitten lips
This runway season saw designers and artists stray away from bold colours with nary a red or hot pink lip in sight. This Autumn will be all about that sheer, stained lip – take it from designers Balmain and Emilio Pucci! Gently dab a small amount of lipstick to the centre of the lips and sheer product outwards with a brush or clean fingers.
Natural brows
Okay, so this trend has been around for a while and isn’t exclusive to the Autumn/Winter season, but it was a big deal on the catwalk with designers like 3.1 Phillip Lim and Hugo Boss going au natural with brows. Try using brow powders and brow tints which will even out sparse areas without looking too overdone.
In a flush
Skin was generally kept minimal and glowing, allowing fresh faces to provide that youthful look. Flushed cheeks were the focal point on perfected skin on the models of Chloe and Nina Ricci. The subtle rosy blush adds that ‘I’ve just been on a run in the cold’ healthy look. Try applying a cream blush or stain directly onto the apple of the cheeks and blend upwards with warm fingers.
