I mean, shouldn’t we just go through the whole of New York Fashion Week, because surely, the whole thing is a highlight of our lives.
MORE: Best Celebrity Street Style At Fashion Week
Well, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but New York Fashion Week is my favourite time of the year, plus or minus a few other major events.
New York Fashion Week combines my true loves in life; travel, fashion and fun events. It’s the perfect mix of elements with that classic and unforgettable New York style and charm. So if we had to narrow down the New York Fashion Week highlights, I’m sure we could try, so let’s give it a shot.
Lady Gaga walked for Marc Jacobs
Yes, we know a celeb one has to come first, but it’s the most obvious. Moving up in acting and fashion, Lady Gaga caused a stir when she did a few push ups in a thong before walking, but nevertheless was her usual fabulous self.
Australians are hot
Australian fashion houses are getting a lot of attention at New York Fashion Week with Zimmerman and Dion Lee successfully showing. Jesinta Campbell even sat front row at Vera Wang, sort of next to Kylie Jenner’s clique.
Capsule buying collections are the new thing
People want to get their hands on looks right after the show has finished, and brands have started listening with Michael Kors, Tom Ford and Rebecca Minkoff offering capsule collections for buying right after the show. Unfortunately, and as always, USA exclusive.
Yeezy was big
Ugh, as much as Kanye West is, well, Kanye West, his Yeezy Season 3 collection had so much publicity swirling around it. While much of the attention was on the nude, sheer stocking look that has been plaguing all his collections, he will even have to admit that most of the news was based around his famous Kardashian-Jenner family in attendance in custom Balmain with heaps of fur. Cue social media going insane.
The 90’s is still in
And there’s nothing wrong with that. After all it was a very much underrated era. Alexander Wang, Public School and DKNY were of course still pushing that 90’s look. Those were unsurprising, however Vera Wang also jumped in and we were thrilled.
