New York Fashion Week has suffered a couple of massive blows over the passed couple of weeks that will definitely change the way we see designs over the coming years.

Major sponsor of the IMG event, Mercedes-Benz, has pulled out of their name-titled event, shortly after New York Fashion Week was kicked out of Lincoln Center for violating their lease.
The major bi-annual event was recently evicted from their 4-year-old home after blocking access to a public park during their reign at Lincoln Center, which is in breach of their lease. After their Fall 2015 showings in February, the huge event will have to find a new home for their Spring 2016 collections, which are held in September. Designers had already shown a change last year by holding their shows in other locations and deviating away from the norm at Lincoln Center, but with New York Fashion Week’s new location, Hudson Yards’ Design Shed, a couple of year’s from being ready for the event, it will be a scramble to find somewhere to house Spring’s catwalk.
The name of the event will also be changed after February as Mercedes-Benz end their sponsorship, so New York Fashion Week will now be your hashtag on Instagram for September. It is also rumoured that IMG is looking to acquire MADE Fashion Week, which is a rival to New York Fashion Week, for designers that couldn’t afford to secure a spot at Lincoln Center. Usually held at Milk Studios in Chelsea, MADE has been described as the younger and cooler sister of New York Fashion Week.
All these changes are huge for New York Fashion Week, and will shape the way that we see fashion in the coming year. It’s safe to say that 2015 is going to be a big one!
