If you were ever looking for inspiration for your next nail art manicure, you only ever have to look towards New York Fashion Week to get some gorgeous ideas.
MORE: Nail Polish Colours You Need This Season
There were some distinct nail trends this season; negative space, stripes and checkers and paint smudged or ombre looks also made an appearance. The french manicure is also back, but not with your traditional colours, with manicurists choosing to match nails to eyes with green tips and silver tips. Matte was also seen on the runway, proving that glossy nails may soon be making an exit for spring next year.
Checkers
Opening Ceremony and Libertine were rocking checkered nail prints on the runway. These colour pop designs are so fun and add real personality to the look. Brooks Brothers by Zac Posen also encompassed a little checker on the side in classic red and blue colours.
Modern French Tips
The variation on the french tip nail trend was huge this season, with so many nail artists taking a simple technique and making it their own. Cushnie et Ochs had deep, oxblood tips, while Monique Lhuillier had bright green tips to match the eyeliner of the girls in the show. Jonathan Simkhai had gorgeous silvery tips, while Tibi used a classic white or a teal with a negative space in the v-shaped tip.
Stripes
Stripes were huge at New York Fashion Week – for nails that is. Tanya Taylor, Marissa Webb and JI OH added subtle stripes to nails over a nude or white base. And when the colours were switched up, it showed how versatile the look really was and how much fun you could have with it.
And we also need to throw an honourable mention out there. While there were a few matte looks on the runway, we were completely in love with the perfect pink matte nails at Ulla Johnson. The simple pink polish in matte added a whole other level to blocked out nails.
