Who doesn’t love a relaxing bath at the end of a hard day? For all you bath lovers out there, I’ve got a simple DIY bath bomb for you to spice up your tub.
Here is what you’ll need:
- 1 cup baking soda
- ½ citric acid
- ½ corn starch
- 3 tbsp Epsom salt
- Food colouring (optional)
- Castor oil
- Essential oil (for scent)
- 1 tbsp water
- Circular mould (if you don’t have any you can always use a muffin tray)
- First, mix together the dry ingredients. Add the baking soda, citric acid, corn starch and Epsom salt into a medium bowl. The Epsom salt will relax your muscles and sooth your skin, while the corn starch will hold everything together. The citric acid reacts with the baking soda which causes the fizz we all love!
- Next, mix together all the liquid ingredients in a separate bowl. Stir together the Castor oil, water, essential oils, and food colouring (this will make it a cool colour).
- Now it’s time to mix together the separate ingredients. SLOWLY pour the liquids into the dry ingredients. If you add too much liquid all at once it will cause a reaction. Stir together with a whisk until it has all combined.
- Now we have to make the moulds. If you have circular mould lying around the house (such as clear plastic ornaments) then great! Use those by packing in the mixture tightly inside and clicking them closed. If you don’t have those, then muffin trays are the next best thing! (they just won’t look like typical bath bombs). Firmly pack the mixture into the muffin trays and leave to dry overnight in the fridge.
- Next it’s time to use them! Throw one into your next bath to be extra soothed and relaxed.
