Karl Lagerfeld has once again proven that he is a genius within the fashion industry, bringing his romantic vision to life for the 2016 Metiers d’Art showing in Rome.

Held at the Cinecitta film complex on the outskirts of Rome, the highly anticipated collection was vintage Paris, with the set replicating dreamy streets of the historic city.
Models epitomised the Parisian style, their Chanel designs hung sulkily from their shoulders in black leather, modern plaids and lace stockings with classical, monochrome sling backs perfect for strutting up from the Metro to walk the catwalk. Hair was tousled into 60’s inspired beehives, while makeup was kept dark and moody with elegantly smudged eyeliner and equally sullen pouts.
Like the vintage Italian cinema that it was set in, the latest Chanel collection is well balanced between the old and the new; in fact, it’s bringing back the old that has since vanished with time and making it new again. The collection itself is well balanced between sheer, dark pieces that give off a vampy, seductress vibe and lady-like whites. Patterns are in full swing with embellishments also making their way down the runway.
Bella Hadid had a personal milestone by making the runway for the Metiers d’Art collection, following in sister Gigi’s footsteps, the young model landed the coveted role, along with Australian Catherine McNeil who opened the show.
