From Reem Acra’s slicked, masculine hair to Herve Leger by Max Azria’s transparent winged eyeliner, the runway has been show an endless array of beauty. And while there were so many amazing hair and makeup displays to match equally amazing outfitting, we’ve narrowed it down to some stand out looks that can easily be transferred to your makeup cabinet.

This season, many designers opted for the wet hair look, but we couldn’t go past Roberto Cavalli’s wet, messy pullback combined with brown-toned smokey eyes and full eyebrows. Donna Karen’s smokey eye used silvers and greys to create a winged look and it was these tones, combined with minimal mascara, that accentuated the eyes on the runway. Betsey Johnson used pink, purple and gold tones blended together to create a sexy, smokey eye that oozed 60’s glamour. Combined with a dark pink glossy pout, big lashes and voluminous hair, Betsey Johnson’s beauty was very flirty. We also love the blue nails with gold detailing.
Coloured lower lash eyeliner was also a favourite for designers with Jill Stuart having her models lower lashes lined with smudged liner of purple, blue or green. Creatures of the wind lined the lower lashed with bright blue and covered the lid in pale yellow with a fringe braid across the forehead.
We loved the MAC yellow-gold eyeshadow at the Badgley Mischka show, that looked great with a slick of black liquid eyeliner, as well as the silver and gold detailed nails that models sported. Bright yellow eyeshadow also made an appearance in Vivienne Tam’s show with models featuring bright eye shadow all the way up to the brows with peach-pink glossy lips and a slick three-quarter-part pony tail tied at the nape of the neck.
Slick pony tails are a definite winner this winter with Herve Leger by Max Azria pairing their unfilled, winged eyeliner with a slick pull back. Kate Spade’s show featured slicked high pony tails with leather bands and Ralph Lauren’s natural face and glossed lips stood out as hair was pulled back off the face.
Reem Acra’s almost masculine looked amazing with the dresses that featured in their Autumn/Winter 2014 collection. Hair was slicked back with a slight smokey eye and nude, glossed lips. This look is great to transfer to your own beauty repertoire and works well with coats and winter dresses.
Versace’s makeup featured long upper lashes with a light matte eyeshadow and nude gloss lips with a half head back comb. We loved this look; it was very classical and very 60’s glamour that worked superbly with the clothing. Gucci also used 60’s beauty inspiration for their make up, using false eyelashes on both the top and bottom lashes and a small double wing on the outer eye.
Finally, Alice + Olivia’s thick, bold eyeliner, red lips and voluminous, teased hair looked fabulous on models strutting down the runway. Red, smudged lips also looked great on models from the Vivienne Westwood Red Label show with 1920’s inspired hair curls and a light eye. We also loved the dark, plum lips displayed at Rebecca Minkoff’s show with glossy eyelids and contoured cheeks.
