Not quite the Grammys and not quite the VMAs, the American Music Awards sits in a musical sweet spot when it comes to performances, outfits, exposure and drama.

This year, the skin was out on the AMAs red carpet with celebs sporting sparkling and show stopping designs as well as a few new ‘do’s.
Gigi Hadid shocked the crowd with her cropped locks, debuting a swept back lob with her laced up crop top and thigh high split skirt. Even though the hair was just a wig, it’s just proof that the it-girl can really pull off anything.
Kendall Jenner also showed off her new bangs in her LBD. We loved her top-knot, something not often seen amongst the flowing locks of the Kardashians and her backless dress showed of her svelte figure. Kendall appeared on the red carpet with younger sister Kylie, in her own version of the LBD. Her chop and change black and chain metal dress was a risk, but it paid off with the youngest reality sister looking fabulous, with her hair also up.
Carrie Underwood looked like the country princess that she is in her sparkly mini-dress complete with cape! Looking like the sweetheart that she is, we couldn’t get enough of the blush coloured ensemble with Carrie’s tanned legs and blonde, shoulder length waves.
Selena Gomez was set to stun on the red carpet with her sleek and shiny locks and perfect ruby inspired smokey eye to match her sequinned dress. Her strappy sandals were the perfect amount of minimalism and seriously, that makeup look was flawless.
Gwen Stefani appeared on the red carpet in a rather interesting gown. With a black leotard base and an extravagant and sheer dress, the usually flawless style queen, while looking quite fierce, has let her loyal fans down. Her stunning hair and makeup did little to justify what the dress was trying to achieve and while her legs looked killer, we just couldn’t get on board with this outfit.
