Rain rain, go away, come again another day…

It’s that time of the year when the weather has replaced gorgeous Summer rays for a grey outlook. Inevitably, with changing seasons comes changing wardrobes, but it can be difficult to get our of that sweater-and-jeans rut when it’s just so darn cold outside. Here are our top tips for saying ‘see ya’ to the sunshine without saying goodbye to good fashion.
1. Let accessories do the talking
So if we’re all going to wear the pants and fluffy jumper combo most Winter days, we may as well jazz it up with cute accessories, right? Layering necklaces and stacking bracelets and rings can put an effortless, bohemian spin on a plain outfit. Beanies, scarves, mittens and even statement socks that are too-cute-for-words are perfect for this, plus they’ll keep you warm too!
2. No brainer-boots
The clothes on your body may be on point, but they’re nothing without the shoes to finish the look. Investing in a staple boot in an essential colour that doesn’t necessarily have to be black (try brown, taupe, burgundy, cream or even khaki instead) ensures that you’ll never have to think about how to keep your feet stylish and free from the rain!
3. Become a layering pro
This might not be a ground-breaking tip, but the subtle art of layering pieces can be hard to master. Staple pieces like vests and cardigans under a coat are perfectly practical ways to jazz up an outfit and defend against the winter wind. Thermals and leggings underneath clothes are also an awesome way to beat the chill.
4. Go faux!
Faux fur is having a serious moment right now thanks to fashion royalty, Stella McCartney. The ethical designer and devout vegan showcased her Fall/Winter 2015 collection featuring faux fur coats and vests. If you’re looking for a simple way to bring glamour into your wardrobe this season, look no further than the faux.
Why not brighten up a drab, grey day with your very own pop of colour and sunshine? Whether it’s deep red lipstick, statement jewellery or Dorothy-red shoes, it’s the perfect way to add quirk and character to an all black or grey ensemble.
