It wasn’t that long ago that we were all after thin eyebrows with good arches and a neat finish. These days, we’re come to our senses a little bit and realised that if we keep plucking our eyebrows, they don’t grow back quite as easily, and that maybe having the thinnest eyebrows isn’t really the best look for our face.

The thicker, bushier eyebrow trend has come on quite quickly over the last couple of years and coincides with the rise of thick eyebrow queen Cara Delevingne. Celebrities are joining the movement with thin, high brows seldom being seen much on the red carpet.
It seems that thicker is better, as many celebs, bloggers and mere mortals are investing in eyebrow tools such as pencils, mascaras and brushes to keep their brows full. It’s no longer about having a neat, slick brow either, with messy brows creating a different look for the face. The thicker look is much more natural and soft on the face, unlike having overly thin brows which can look quite harsh and false – try and think of Pamela Anderson’s eyebrows.
There has been an influx of thick brows on the runway, ranging from natural-esque to overly bushy and coloured and jewelled. Thicker eyebrows make faces look much younger, fresher and more natural. This can be seen by comparing celebrities such as Gwen Stefani, Kate Moss and Jennifer Lopez today, to their beauty looks from the 90s, when thin brows were all the rage.
If Hollywood is anything to go by, which usually it is, the pencil thin, overly plucked brows of the past are out and bushy, thick eyebrows are in. Much like Kylie Jenner’s lips, if you don’t possess these naturally, you can always over-draw them on.
