It’s the final red carpet warm up before this award seasons main event: the 87th Academy Awards. But the Screen Actors Guild Awards are not about to take being second best lightly, and this year our fav celebs have produced some early contenders for gown of the year. Here are a few of the fashion highlights, with sleek and sparkle all competing for the spotlight. Let’s just hope they’ve saved a few special style surprises for the Oscars on the 22nd of February.

The reigning style queen of the awards season, Emma Stone, continues her red carpet domination in this unforgettable Dior Couture gown. After leaving every A-lister in her fashionable wake with her Lanvin jumpsuit at the Golden Globes earlier in the month, we weren’t sure if Stone could top her efforts. But this tuxedo-eqsue, sheer gown is every inch of the glamour, drama and elegance that we hoped Stone would bring again. With slicked back hair, a simple, strong red lip and the most gorgeous porcelain skin in Hollywood, Stone knows the importance of letting the dress make the impact, and paring back the other styling elements. It doesn’t get better than this.
We get it. Jennifer Aniston, you are hot. And 45 years old. Seriously, is this woman for real? While the vintage John Galliano dress leaves a little bit to be desired in the glam stakes (really Jen, paisley? Brown paisley?!), that plunging neckline and chic body chain more than make up for it. The bronzed make up and relaxed, sun-kissed hair do complement the dress perfectly, and there is no denying that Jen’s body is absolutely rocking either. It’s just that something about the overall look isn’t quite right. C’mon Jen, the Oscars are around the corner and it’s time to step up to the fashion plate, leave the brown gowns at home and wow us.
There is something so beautiful about redheads wearing green, and Julianne Moore is no exception. And when your gown is the most exquisitely beaded Givenchy creation to ever grace the red carpet, that certainly helps too. The classic cut of the dress fits Moore like a glove, and the Chopard earrings are the right amount of bling to balance out the sparkle of the dress. Moore’s nude makeup and soft curls are subtle enough to ensure the dress is the statement, yet are essential to completing her look. This hot Oscar favourite is firming up as a red carpet standout as well, and if this flawless form is anything to go by, we can’t wait to see what she’s got in store for the Academy.
Keira Knightley has always been one to take a fashion risk or two, and being pregnant hasn’t stopped the young Brit from taking her style cred to the next level. Everything about this look is dreamy. From the regal purple, to the cascading layer of laser cut lace, and then to the ultimate boho half up, half down ‘do, it is as if Knightley is floating on some kind of ethereal pregnancy cloud. The sheer mesh insert of the Erdem gown, accompanied by a chic ear cuff add just the right amount of edginess to the look, and prevent it from crossing over into safe (boring) maternity wear territory. You can always count on Reese Witherspoon to bring some Southern Belle grace to the red carpet. A veteran when it comes to awards season, Witherspoon rarely puts a foot wrong, and this clean, classic, white-hot Armani gown is the perfect example of how to make it to the top of a best dressed list. The one shoulder, fitted dress creates a gorgeous silhouette on Witherspoon, hugging her curves in all the right places; and the delicate beading on the shoulder adds an extra but of sparkle. A sleek, side-parted ponytail completes her look, and voila! You’ve got minimalist glamour at it’s most dazzling.
