Did you know that essential oils can be used for more than just nice smelling scents? Some are used for beauty and health reasons…and tea tree oil is at the top of the multi-purpose list!
Take a look at some awesome uses for tea tree oil.
- Makeup remover. A great and natural way to remove makeup at the end of the day is by using tea tree oil mixed with canola oil. Combine ¼ of canola oil with 4 drops of tea tree in a clean jar and shake well. Use this mixture when you need with a cotton pad. This is an awesome way to remove makeup without chemicals and is super beneficial for your skin!
- Treat Acne. Tea tree oil is a really popular home remedy to treat acne. Mix together 5 drops of tea tree oil and 2 teaspoons of ray honey together and apply it all over your face. Leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse off. Tea tree oil is also great for spot treating your pimples.
- Improve your hair. It’s been proven that tea tree oil is great for your scalp by treating dandruff and soothing dry skin. You can add a few drops into your shampoo, or mix together with coconut oil as a DIY dandruff shampoo.
- Antiseptic. One of my favourite uses for tea tree oil is as a simple antiseptic. By dipping a cotton ball or cotton bud into pure tea tree oil you can disinfect and sooth cuts, burns, blemishes, rashes, etc.
- Treat psoriasis and eczema. Another home remedy using tea tree can treat skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Mix together 5 drops of tea tree, 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, and 5 drops of lavender oil together in a bowl. Apply the mixture to your skin as a soap on the shower, then rinse off.
- Remove body odor. Have a smelly body? Maybe you can’t get that skink off your feet? Run a bath of water and simply drop 4-5 drops of tea tree oil into the water. Soak in the bath and bathe as usual. You can also soak your feet in warm water with a few drops of tee tree and all smells will be gone!
- Reduce cold sores. A super easy way to reduce cold sores is by dabbing a cotton bud soaked in tea tree oil onto the area. Do this 3-4 times a day until the cold sore is gone, but be very careful not to get any in your mouth because tea tree oil is toxic if ingested.
