If you’re new to dark lipsticks and are afraid to try the trend out, go with a chocolate or brown shade. Because chocolate colours are very neutral they suit most skin tones and look nice on everyone.
If you want to match the lipstick to your skin tone, then match it to the undertone of the lipstick. First, pick a lipstick shade. It could be dark purple, red, or burgundy – whatever you want.
Warm skin undertones have a yellow tint. This means they’re complimented by red shades. Find dark lipsticks that have a reddish base colour – or even just a plain old dark red lipstick.
Cool skin undertones have a pink or blue tint, so they’re complimented more by berry shades. Darker lipsticks that have pink undertone are the best way to go – or you could make it easier for yourself and wear a plum colour.
Neutral skin undertones have the best of both worlds and can go either way.
And always remember: if you feel like a colour doesn’t suit you, you can always wash it off!
