Anything But A ‘Sexy Something’ For Halloween

What To Wear On Halloween

This week, Halloween graces us with its presence and of course, an excuse to dress up. Among the classic vampires, Disney characters and anything covered in fake blood, there is always a huge amount of ladies dresses up as ‘sexy somethings’.

Sexy occupations, sexy animals and sexy Disney Princesses are some people’s go to outfits for this holiday that Australians don’t actually celebrate. There’s also the sexy witches, devils and super heroes and the occasional Playboy Bunny, à la Legally Blonde.

Do us a favour and don’t take a tip from Mean Girls. Make your Halloween costume a little more chic by opting for a covered outfit and not just underwear and some form of animal ears, especially if you’re at the age where you realise that you should know better than to get out your sexy nurse costume.

Why not channel your favourite style icons like Audrey Hepburn, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne or Twiggy? Throw on a shift and some big eyelashes for Twiggy or a basketball jersey and sweats for Cara Delevingne. Kate Moss’ trademark jeans and boots are something you can find easily in your closet and Audrey Hepburn requires a little black dress. Simple.

If you’re into movies, take some advice from your favourite classic characters like Cher from Clueless, Sandy from Grease or any outfit from Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. Add some personal preference into your character and be creative, eschewing the simple ‘sexy something’ outfit and wearing something that might generate a great conversation with that cutie in the corner.

We’ve picked out some great costumes and some great celebrity Halloween costumes to give you some inspiration.
