Website We Love: Rent The Runway

We know you’ve watched every fashion week this season in all the destinations around the world. We know you’ve lusted over the designs sashaying down the runway. And we definitely know that you’ve looked them up and winced a little as your heart broke. We don’t even have to ask.

MORE: What’s Your Dress Type?

There’s no doubt that the best designers in the world are pricey; if they weren’t, they wouldn’t be the best, and us mere mortals set up our computers each season to watch models in out-of-your-league outfits strut the catwalk and we imagine what we would buy if we had an disposable bank account. Our partner’s catch us pretending to online shop and remind us of a few little things called rent and bills and our dream bubble has popped, leaving the residue across our heads.

Well, fabulous news! You can actually rent beautiful pieces that you see on the runway, for a fraction of the price – if you’re in America that is. Rent The Runway is a website that gives you a loan of the pieces you want and sends them right to your nearest store, really quickly. They can even send out a second size free, just in case the first doesn’t fit. After you send them back, they inspect and dry clean them, ready for the next person who wants to rent their dream outfit for less than half or even three quarters of the outfit cost.

You can even rent bridal and bridesmaids dresses and accessories. Think of all the money you could be saving on your wedding!

More than just a website, Rent The Runway has stores in New York, Washington and inside The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. While it is a virtual wardrobe full of designer pieces, you can also choose to be styled for a small fee (we’re talking small). You can get a single styling session for 45 minutes or a 90-minute multiple events session that will have your pieces laid out for the entire season.

Now if you want to talk brands, just keep on listening as the list goes on through some incredible designers that you will definitely want to wear. Badgley Mischka, Missoni, Calvin Klein, Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana and more. Check out their full list of designers here.

The concept itself is incredible and makes fashion more accessible to those who don’t have a seven figure salary. For those of you lucky enough to live in America and be able to use this, use it well and let us live vicariously through you!
