Trend Talk: Why We’re Diving Into Neoprene

neoprene, swimwear, high fashion

The interesting texture of neoprene is back in the form of jumpers, dresses and skirts. Neoprene has traditionally been used to creating wet suits as the fabric is lightweight and soft. Now it’s taking over out of the sea with designers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Proenza Schouler and Alexander Wang.

Neoprene is generally rigid, keeping structured shapes and not crinkling easily. This makes it easier to wear amazing structural pieces, because they will keep their shape. The fabric is also warm against cold winter weather.

There are generally two ways to wear neoprene pieces; tight or very loose. When wearing a piece that is loose, for example a neoprene jumper, pair with a tight skirt or pair of pants to balance the outfit and vice versa. Neoprene looks great in the form of skirts, jumpers, dresses and tops.
