Even for those who don’t keep up with emerging fashion trends, it’s pretty hard to deny that 90s fashion revival is having a serious moment right now. Perhaps we can point the finger at the emergence of grungy, gritty street style from the likes of Cara Delevingne and Kylie Jenner. Or the tartan button-up adorned waists of celebs like Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens. Whatever the reason, we’re whole-heartedly embracing it’s return! Here are our top 5 favourite fashion finds or re-finds to come out of this glorious era nostalgia.

Tartan
Who can forget those iconic co-ordinate ensembles from Clueless that made the tartan print famous (sorry Iggy!)? Today, the print has become a common street style staple worn by fashion-savvy celebs, and has even graced the runway of various high-fashion designer collections. The pattern is certainly versatile and gives off that oh-so-effortless casual vibe – we can definitely see why everyone is leaping onto this pattern bandwagon.

Chokers
This is definitely my favourite recovery from the 90s era. The tightness around the neck that these necklaces have adds instant character and grunge to any outfit. Often adorned with adorable hippy/boho trinkets, these statement pieces are a safe and effortless way to get into the spirit of the trend.

Kylie Jenner lips
There was no way an article on the 90s could be written without mentioning the rise of the so-named ‘Kylie Jenner lips’. Although not an original discovery by her by any means, the nude/brown/mauve lipstick hype did emerge through her now famous Instagram selfies wearing the deep neutral colour. The colour is universally flattering on almost everyone and very wearable, so we can see how the shade has taken off in the beauty world.

Hair buns
Although various incarnations of the hair bun has transcended different eras, the 90s nostalgia trend has put a casual, gritty, festival-vibe on the style. Whether it be the double buns on top of the noggin’, half bun/half down ‘do, or heaps of Spice Girl knots like Rihanna, this is by far one of the more common and practical revivals.

Halter neck style
Another favourite trend piece! The effortlessly chic yet comfy and casual halter style that I basically live in during the warmer months. Appearing in various forms – for example crop tops, halter dress, dressier chiffon tops – the style is an intriguing design that is flattering no matter what your personal style may be.
