Trend Report: Matchy Matchy

As can be seen in some of our favourite runway shows, the 90’s is making a comeback in the form of slip dresses, chunky sandals, crop tops and grunge-inspired pieces. Perhaps one of the most iconic 90’s looks, the matchy-matchy ensemble, is making a comeback. Chanel, Peter Pilotto and Tom Ford have released matchy-matchy outfits to prove that too much of something can be a good thing.

How to style a matchy-matchy outfit is down to your personality, style and what you are actually dressing for. If you feel you can rock a plaid skirt and blazer combo, a-la Alicia Silverstone in Clueless, try pairing it with a white button up or slogan tee. Pairing a matching blazer with a midi pencil skirt will have you looking more sophisticated than high school. Switch up the plaid for hound’s tooth or bright coloured block pieces for an attention grabbing look.

Alternatively, pair a blazer with a matching pair of shorts or pants for a look that can be made casual or dressy depending on the shoes and accessories you choose. Matching crop tops and skirts or pants look great in bright coloured or monochrome prints.
