Trend Alert: Negative Space Nail Art

Sometimes it is the simplest things that make the most impact. Negative space nail art is one of the latest trends in the world of nail art and we are totally jumping on the bandwagon, because why not? The negative nail art is sort of like a cut out dress of the nail world. Just like the red carpet staple, the design shows off just enough skin to be modest and sexy, while creating a trail of designs and patterns.

The design leaves gaps and spaces rather than having the whole nail covered and painted in colour, and the result is something unique and creative. It’s an incredibly versatile nail design that suits any age and style. Even those who are not into nail art will be falling for it. It looks fantastic in any colour, from pastels to brights and can be done in an array of patterns. The trend is the in between of an edgy and a glam look.

Want to rock the look shown above? We have the steps down before.

Step One: Prep your nails by filing and shaping them. Then cut out a V-shape using masking tape and stick them onto each nail.

Step Two: Paint your base coat onto each nail.

Step Three: Picking your favourite pigmented colour, put on two coats.

Step Four: While the polish is almost dry, lift the sticker from the nail and add topcoat.

Who said that you have to be the crafty type in order to pull off DIY nail art? Now you don’t have to be stuck paying salon prices in order to rock the type of nails stars like Kylie Jenner and Taylor Swift have.

If you’re feeling a little more creative, you can try out the following designs.
