The Must-Have Coats You Need This Winter

Fashion Week has come to a close and given us some amazing trends to take on board for the colder months. A huge trend this year was maximalism and outerwear, appearing in many runway shows and in street style. Winter is all about layering up in the chicest ways possible and stocking up on a collection of coats that are a must have this season.

One of the biggest trends on the runway was fur, whether it be faux or real. Be it an entire fur coat or accents on the cuffs and collar, a fur coat of some sort is a must have for winter. This J.Mendel coat with the cinched waist is a perfect piece for winter with your silhouette not getting lost in the size of the coat.

Pastels were also prominent on the runway with many designers opting for a 60’s theme dress code. Gucci does this exceptionally well with many pieces in pastel colours. A must have is the baby blue coat with waist belt from Gucci’s runway show; simple, chic and classic New York.

Colours are trending up this season with bright reds and oranges also appearing on the runway in the form of coats. This Preen by Thornton Bregazzi coat will be a showstopper to add to your wardrobe.

Shearling coats are the epitome of cozy winter fashion. Add some wool to your wardrobe with this Tommy Hilfiger shearling coat that is perfect for outdoorsy weekends in chilly winter weather.

Wrap, blanket and robe coats were also all over the runway with Burberry Porsum making a statement with models’ initials emblazoned on blanket coats and Altuzarra and Mark Fast incorporating robe coats into their collections. This Max Mara robe coat is a must have.

Of course, you could always find a coat that blends two trends together, such as this baby pink, fur coat from Marc Jacobs; the red robe coat from Leonard and this blanket coat with fur trim from Roberto Cavalli.
