The Best Ways To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

It’s super important that we clean our makeup brushes. Not only does bacteria built up inside the bristles (we don’t want that on our face!), but the brush performs better once it’s cleaned and back to its natural shape.

There are so many expensive brush cleaners on the market and while they might be good, I’ve got some awesome, just as good, cheaper options for you!

A bar of soap

The Best Ways To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

A bar of soap is a cheap and effective way to keep your makeup brushes nice and clean. Make sure the soap is natural, and doesn’t have any added scents. This one by Palmolive gets my brushes looking fresh and new.

When you use a bar of soap to clean your brushes you want to make sure the bar is nice and wet. Wet the bristles of your brush under a tap with warm water. Always make sure your brush is pointing down, otherwise water can seep down into the bristles and loosen the glue holding it together.

Once everything is wet you’ll want to swirl your brush onto the bar of soap under the running water. You should see all the makeup product coming out of the brush. When your brush is lathered up, its time to rinse all the soap out. Swirl the brush into the palm of your hand under the running water until all the soap is gone. Make sure you get every last bit of soap out.

To dry, lay your brush flat on a towel and leave over night. Its as easy as that!

Baby shampoo

Another great way to clean your brushes is with baby shampoo. Because it’s meant for baby’s skin, the shampoo will be gentler on your brushes.

The method to wash your brushes is the same, just poor a dot of shampoo into your hands and swirl your brush in it under the sink, then rinse.
