A classic faux pas, double denim has earned itself an unfair reputation of being daggy and trashy. Due to the disastrous outfits in 2001, courtesy of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, double denim is many times feared in your mind when creating an outfit. But double denim shouldn’t be discredited, because when done right, it can give a new meaning to casual chic.
One of the keys to pulling off a double denim ensemble is the colour of the denim that you are wearing. Lighter coloured denim can look great with mid wash or dark denim, however, an ensemble in one coloured denim doesn;’t necessarily mean fashion death. Try mixing up the pieces you pair with denim skirts, jackets, tops, bralettes and jeans. While fitted pieces looks great, looser denim tops work well with shorts or skinny jeans and can be tucked in to create a small silhouette.
When choosing shoes, exude elegance with white or nude sandal heels or add a colour pop with a pair of bright point toe pumps. Use feminine accessories such as romantic rings, cross over bags and cats-eye sunglasses to set your look off.
