Is Strobing The New Contouring?

In the world of beauty and social media, everyone and their mother has seen, heard about or tried contouring at some point. But for most people, this makeup artist’s technique is just too hard to master.

Enter: Strobing – the face flattering technique that will bring definition to the face without contouring, which is having a serious moment right now.

So, strobing is basically using a light-reflecting powder or cream on the high points of the face to add complexity and glow.

By hitting the high points of the face like top of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and Cupid’s bow, you’re reflecting light to those areas which screams youthful, dewy and healthy skin.

Strobing’s been around for ages, but has recently gained traction in the last few weeks through the #strobing hashtag on social media and it’s claim to the be the “anti-contour.”

This reinvigorated technique is perfect for those who put contouring into the ‘too- hard’ basket or to glam up those simple makeup days.
