Rihanna has been hand picked to be the new face of Dior in their fourth installment of the Secret Garden campaign – and it’s definitely a big deal. Not only is Rihanna the perfect match for the elegant French label, she is the first black spokesperson in the fashion houses’s 70-year history.

The campaign, shot by the legendary Steve Klein in the Palace of Versailles will be in print and video, and we can’t wait to see how gorgeous Rihanna looks in Dior. This campaign follows a slew of celebrity faces for the brand, such as Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman and Marion Cotillard.

After being named CFDA’s Fashion Icon of the Year for 2014, posing for various high fashion brands like Balmain and being appointed as creative director of Puma, it’s so exciting for Rihanna to move even higher into the fashion stakes and take on the name of Dior.

Rihanna, who’s usually cool and calm has even said how much of a big deal this is, not just for her, but for coloured women everywhere.

“It feels fantastic. It is such a big deal for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls of any color. I think to be acknowledged by Dior means a lot, as a woman, to feel beautiful — to feel elegant and timeless.”

Rihanna is a busy woman, continuing her time with Puma, being the face of Dior and promoting her first animated movie role in Home which will be released later this year, all while recording her eighth studio album.
