More Red Carpet Show Stoppers From The Grammys

2015 grammys red carpet

The Grammys are notorious for bringing out the craziest and most dramatic outfits among celebrities and there is always something to be talked about after stars walk down the red carpet. Taking a look back, some of the outfits that received gasps and have gone down in history are Jennifer Lopez’s plunging Versace in 2000, Traci Bingham’s rhinestone covered breasts in 2001, Nicki Minaj’s leopard and red outfits in 2011 and 2012 respectively and Lady Gaga in general, are just a few of the outfits that have set tongues wagging all over tinsel town.

The 57th Annual Grammys red carpet has got everybody talking, some for the right reasons and some for the very wrong. There were some great outfits on the red carpet this year, some underwhelming ones and some that you just wonder if anyone has a stylist anymore. Joy Villa was definitely a hazard to be avoided, while Madonna was channeling her inner Matador for the bull fight that is the Grammys.

Without dwelling on the bad or the awful, let’s get down to business with the awesome. Usual wild child Miley Cyrus had us forgetting her giant hand and tongue antics in a black Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown with cheeky cutouts. With slicked back hair and minimal makeup, Miley looked quite beautiful with this relaxed look on the red carpet.

Gwen Stefani never seems to age, and neither does her fashion sense. The platinum blonde swapped her usual red lip for a flattering nude to go with this amazing Atelier Versace jumpsuit. Ariana Grande’s floor length, white and metallic Versace gown was very grown-up-gorgeous on the teeny tiny star. One little change, we may have swapped the white point toes for a rounded toe silver for a little more glamour.

Rihanna really was the Cinderella of the evening in a huge Giambattista Valli gown. The puffy, pink dress was so outstanding that no one noticed Rihanna’s messy, unkempt do (except us, of course). With a dress as show stopping as that, who needs to do their hair anyway? Is it possible to win Fashion Icon of the Year twice?

Kimmy K and husband Kanye looked like a classic high fashion pair. Dressed in Jean Paul Galtier and Balmain respectively, the pair embraced on the red carpet with Kanye copping a feel of his voluptuous wife. While Kim received a lot of criticism for her bathrobe-esque look, you can’t deny that she looks glamorous and those embellished shoulders are to die for.

Beyonce looked glam, as usual, which is getting a little old for us. Her Proenza Schouler gown was black, plunging and sparkly, but also a little predictable from Queen Bey. Anna Kendrick should have a wardrobe full of suits – that’s how good they look on her. This black, Band of Outsiders number was nothing special on the rack, but on Anna, looks sophisticated and sexy.

Iggy Azalea’s Armani Privé gown in royal blue was a win for her, with cutouts and a sheer leg strip, accentuating her slim waist. However, the crown braid atop her head, drew some attention away from the lovely outfit. Taylor Swift was a burst of colour in this mermaid-inspired Elie Saab gown. The blue-green design allowed for a length show of leg, and Taylor kept things fun, adding the purple heels for a great contrast.

Lady Gaga was shocking this year – because she looked quite normal. Dressed in a plunging, cleavage bearing Brandon Maxwell gown, with a high split, Gaga looked tanned and toned. We loved the green gem drop necklace and strappy sandals.

Jennifer Hudson and Nicki Minaj were embracing Tom Ford on the night, with two very different dresses. Jennifer looked chic in a white mini dress, while Nicki continued her glamification in a plunging, black gown.

Rita Ora debuted her new pixie cut in a dazzling Prada gown while Katie Perry also sparkled in a fringed Zuhair Murad dress with her newly purple bob. Meghan Trainor jumped on the sheer trend train with a Galia Lahav gown that swam in sheer bunches around her legs. Sia and her mini-me Maddie Ziegler appeared on the red carpet in blonde, frizzy wigs and Giorgio Armani.

Chrissy Teigan reminded everyone that she is the queen of cutouts in this daring Emilio Pucci gown and Jessie J looked quite stunning in a black, Ralph and Russo gown with beading embellishments and a sheer skirt.
