There was an obvious trend of crop tops and/or two piece matching ensembles at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles last week. Many stars brought out their tans with bright coloured or white outfits to match the warm weather, though some failed to impress us.

Our best dressed of the event is the ever stylish Nina Dobrev looked summery and gorgeous in a two piece Vionnet crop top and shorts combo with her messy braid. Shorts showed off her lovely tan, while her pink pumps and neutral clutch matched her outfit perfectly. Another on the best dressed list is Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell, who also rocked a messy braid. The Misha Collection white lace skirt and top combo was very similar to the outfit that Kim Kardashian wore to her birthday in 2013 – though we think that Shay wore it much better. Her metallic Jimmy Choo pumps and box clutch worked well with her vampy lip and nails.
Taylor Swift jumped on board the matching two-piece bandwagon with a green Novis bustier and skirt which she wore with yellow Charlotte Olympia heels. She looked adorable with her dewy skin and her hair pushed behind her ears. Lucy Hale and Sarah Hyland were also winners with their outfits. Lucy’s little red dress was striking with her black nails and accessories, while Sarah’ sparkly mini dress, strappy sandals and pulled back pony tail were very weather appropriate. Jennifer Lopez also made our best dressed list with her short lace Elie Saab dress and matching metallic, green heels.
Other stars that deserve some mention are Disney girls Selena Gomez and Debby Ryan, who looked sophisticated, though a little business-like at the event and Emily Osment who looked lovely in white with a coral nails-heels-lip combination. Shailene Woodley’s Peter Pilotto outfit was different from the swarm of crop tops and Hilary Duff looked great with her cropped hair, though we’re not too sure about the crop top which may have been a little too Julia Stiles in a 90’s movie. Janel Parish’s outfit colours were lovely and we enjoyed her accessories though the skirt was a little over done for such an event.
Those who failed to impress as much were some women in white. Kendall Jenner’s pantsuit with sheer legs and a cowl-neck just did not do it for us.Her usual red carpet hits have now been tainted by this sheer panelled piece. Ariana Grande looked like she fit in with the teen in her white mini dress and signature big hair and Victoria Justice’s net dress needs no explaining as to why it is on this list.
