With so many makeup products in the world to choose from these days, we’re rarely surprised when we see lipsticks in colours other than red or pink.

Wearing them ourselves however, is another matter, because it’s not everyday that you can wear a green or blue lipstick.
The way we do our makeup now is so unique. We’re able to play around with contouring, eye shadow designs and how big our lips are. The colour of our lips is no different, unique coloured lipstick shades of blue, yellow, green, lilac and black are making appearances with beauty bloggers and celebrities.
While a blue lipstick might not be appropriate for your weekdays at the office, there’s no reason you can’t have a play with it on weekends when you go out to bars, meet with your friends or go to a show. Lipstick colours are super fun, but there are some guidelines to stick with to make sure that you pull off your unique colour.
Colour Co-ordinate Your Outfit
It may sound obvious, but make sure your lipstick colour isn’t going to be clashing with your outfit colour. Better yet, your lipstick will make a stunning addition if you’re dressed in black and white, or the same colour that you’ve chosen for your lips.
Use Lipliner
You probably use lipliner with your normal lipstick, so it goes without saying to add it onto a different colour. Bright coloured lipsticks have the tendency to get a little messy so the lipliner will help stop any leaking.
Choose Matte
Matte coloured lipsticks have a much better effect than glossy ones. They also last longer, so you won’t have to reapply as often, or have that faded look, which could make you seem like you’re not getting enough oxygen.
Do It With Confidence
Whether it’s black, blue or burgundy, the key to pulling off any look is doing it with confidence. Knowing that you look great, or at least pretending like you do will have a more positive effect on your makeup choices.
Keep It Simple
Keep your overall makeup look simple. You want to draw attention to your lips after all, so dial down the smokey eye. A bit of bronzer, a swipe of mascara and a slick of eyeliner are all that you need to make your look great.
