It’s hard to catch a break in the world of fashion and entertainment, what with names like Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lawrence all vying for every inch of runway and red carpet space. But these It-Girls can’t hold onto the title forever, and we’ve found some young hopefuls who are ready to challenge for the crown. Remember the following names and faces, because 2015 is sure to have some big fashion moments in store for them.
If we could name just one, breakout, come-from-nowhere star of the fashion scene in 2014, it would have to be Gigi Hadid (sorry Kendall Jenner – we knew who you were waayyy before the whole supermodel thing). The girl with the golden hair and beaming smile has had a year that saw her named one of the 12 Sports Illustrated Rookies for 2014, land a spot on the coveted 2015 Pirelli Calendar, and became a regular on best dressed lists around the globe (who could forget her Melbourne Cup appearance?). Seriously, could it get any better for her? Well, apparently so, with Hadid also just being named a Victoria’s Secret Pink model (she is practically a Candice in the making, after all). Keep your eyes peeled on this one in 2015, we’re predicting an even bigger, more stylish year from Hadid.
She has worked as an ambassador for both Vera Wang and Topshop, has her own super-cool indie band, Lolawolf, and stars in the latest young adult series to captivate the world (and give The Hunger Games a run for its money), the Divergent trilogy. Oh, did we mention her dad is famed musician Lenny Kravitz? With a rock and roll upbringing, and a routine day that could involve wearing custom Topshop to the Met Gala Ball, or collaborating with Swarovski for a capsule collection, it’s no wonder Kravitz has developed some serious style cred. With long stints on the red carpet looking likely thanks to the release of the second Divergent film, and the Mad Max reboot; combined with more Lolawolf tours, we are looking forward to more seeing more of that rock-glam look that Kravitz has so expertly perfected.
We are definitely beginning to notice a genetically blessed pattern going on here… Our next face to watch is Sofia Richie, who just happens to be the daughter of Lionel, and sister of Nicole. With pedigree like that, it’s pretty damn hard to not have some kind of stylish bone in your body. At just 16, Richie has signed her first modelling contract with Select Model Management (who also look after supermodels Jessica Hart and Agyness Dean), and already has a fashion clique of her own, including none other than Kendall and Kylie Jenner. With platinum locks and a pout to die for, it’s easy to understand why it hasn’t taken long for Richie to get noticed on the fashion radar. And with Nicole as a style mentor, the future for Richie looks fashionably bright.
Hers might not be a name you are instantly familiar with, but Odeya Rush is definitely a face you will want to keep an eye on in 2015. After landing the female lead role in this years The Giver, with no previous major film credits, her star has continued to rise. Despite being only 17 her grace and poise on the red carpet has earned her a lot of admirers, and with labels like Valentino and Dior lining up to dress the young starlet, she is in very stylish hands. Rush also keeps fashionable company, with Taylor Swift taking on a mentoring role for the young actress, and also including her in her exclusive gang of gal pals. With four new movies set for release in 2015, we can’t wait to see how Rush’s style continues to evolve both on and off screen.
At 6 ft 2, Ireland Baldwin was never going to be one to get lost in a crowd, but Baldwin has made the most of her height, beauty and smarts to become a powerful force in both the acting and modelling worlds. Not much doesn’t look good on this glamazon, and her personal style is a mix of high glam, grungy street style, thrown together with a youthful, uninhibited sense of fun. With Elle, Vanity Fair and New York Post shoots under her belt, and the moniker ‘It-girl’ also being associated with Baldwin, she has quite a lot to live up to in 2015. Since Baldwin dresses with such confidence and attitude however, we don’t doubt that she is more than ready for what 2015 has in store for her.
