It’s very exciting getting your first tattoo. You feel like you’re doing something artistic that looks beautiful on your body and it’s all smiles and butterflies when you look in the mirror.

Fast forward a few years and the writing that you got on your ribs or that star sign you got on the back of your neck might not seem as appealing as it did a couple of years ago. Laser seems like a great option to get rid of those, until you actually go to an appointment and see what it’s all about. The answer to that is pain, that’s what it’s all about, so you live on with the regrettable body art that you thought was very cool at the time.

On the other hand, maybe you absolutely love the tattoo you got. It’s everything you ever wanted and even after time, you still adore it. But your new boss doesn’t and wants you to cover it up for work, otherwise there will be big trouble.

Whether it’s a special occasion like a wedding or a bikini contest, or you just have to look appropriate for work, there is a way to cover tattoos without having to go through multiple sessions of lasers zapping the tattoo from your skin. While you could invest in a tattoo cover up formula like Tattoo Camo or Dermablend, it is possible that you are able to cover up the tattoo with the products in your own makeup bag.

Clean the area that you will be covering with a wipe and then apply a primer so that the make you’re using has something to stick to. Using a brush, apply concealer over the area to cover up the colours and lines of the tattoo. Once that has been left to dry, a foundation the same colour as the skin can be applied over the top using a sponge or a brush. Ensure that the foundation is blended to the skin properly and leave to dry. Then add a translucent powder to create a matte finish. Hairspray can be used as a sealer for the makeup, but you should always test your coverup before the big event.

One video that we’ve sourced involves using a red lip product to help cover up the tattoo. Check it out in the video below for some helpful hints.
