How To Add Sheer To Your Wardrobe

sheer, style, how to

Just because the weather is cooling down it doesn’t mean you can’t heat up your outfit by showing a bit of skin.ย Take advantage of this season’s trend and invest in some sheer pieces to show off not only skin, but some beautiful lingerie that would otherwise be unable to see the light of day.

Beautiful lingerie can be given the spotlight without looking trashy by placing it under some chic sheer pieces. Legs can also be shown off with a sheer skirt or sheer panels.

Though the emphasis is on what’s underneath, it’s important not to pull a Rihanna-At-Balmain-Afterparty and leave some to the imagination. Try to emphasise one to two body parts at a timeย and use colours that will accentuate your skin toneย and don’t be afraid of bright colours. If lingerie is too risque for you, try beautiful bandage skirts and singlets under your sheer pieces.

While sheer shirts are a classic go to, why not try something a little different such as a sheer hemline or a sheer cardigan. Though these are still giving you coverage, they are showing off your skin and making it look ethereal. If you’re feeling brave, try a sheer skirt or dress. You can wear one with many sheer layers and pleats or a straight cut dress with a sparkly body suit or underwear set underneath. If you’re not brave enough to go full sheer, why not try some sheer lace for a little more coverage or a sheer piece with a bold pattern. Looser fits are more practical and flattering while creating a dreamy illusion.

Keeping accessories to a minimum will draw attention to your outfit, so a pair of sandal heels, a necklace and a couple of fine rings are all that will be needed with a sheer piece.

Always consider the appropriateness of an outfit to a particular event. Outfits that show off much skin may be best left out of the office and to a party instead.
