Put away that TV remote. Close that DVD cover. It’s time to flip open a book and get lost in between two covers, some words, a couple hundred pages.

Lets see the 5 books everyone should read at least once!

Pride and Prejudice

top 5 books

A classic book. Everyone needs to read a Jane Austin book at least once in their life, and I think Pride and Prejudice is the way to go. It’s one of Austin’s better reads. It’s simple to understand, interesting to follow, and who doesn’t enjoy reading about love and scandal? Let’s not forget the sexy Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet’s hilarious banter that keeps you going.

Harry Potter

top 5 books

I’m kind of cheating here and putting all of the Harry Potter books into one. I mean you can’t read one book without reading the others right? And if you think you don’t need to read Harry Potter because you’ve watched the movies, then think again! There are loads of things the movies left out, and the books are packed full extra characters and side-plots that you’ve been missing out on. J.K Rowling is truly an amazing author who created this amazing wizard world that everyone should sink their teeth into.

The Fault In Our Stars

Cue the tears…

Like Jane Austin, everyone should read a John Green book at least once. Green is another great modern author that manages to relay the feelings and thoughts of what it’s like to be a teenager. The Fault In Our Stars is one of his best books, and before you say you’ve seen the movie, just think, how many times has a movie been better than the book? None! So get a copy of this sappy teen tear-jerker and sit down for a fab read.

To Kill A Mocking Bird

top 5 books

They teach this book in school for a reason – and it’s not to bore us! I remember being forced to read this book in high school and hating it. But it was my second time reading it that I found myself really enjoying it. This book is a great read because it focuses on drama and adult issues like racism, cruelty, love and kindness, but is told through the eyes of an innocent child. Plus, To Kill A Mocking Bird is a classic, and we should all appreciate the classics.

The Princess Bride

top 5 books

Don’t let the name of this book fool you. It’s not some sappy, fairy tale love story. It’s a romantic comedy in novel form, a fantasy novel that covers everything from fighting, pirates, love, death, miracles, and revenge. It’s a fantastic light-hearted read that’s sure to leave you in a good mood.
