While designers and models distribute the trends through fashion shows and new collections, there are always those certain influential celebrities that perpetuate them by their social media accounts, red carpet appearances and personal style. Some celebrities even design their own collections to let us get into their idea of fashion.
2014 has seen some excellent displays of fashion and risk taking from celebrities, so who has been the most influential this year?
Rihanna
Of course Bad Gal Riri is at the top. This woman has been to more runway shows this year than anyone, changing outfits several times at day at New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week earlier in the year. Rihanna constantly breaks barriers in fashion, usually with her nipples, being seen at the Balmain after party in a mesh top, accepting the CFDA’s Style Icon award in a see-through sparkly gown and recently appearing at the British Fashion Awards in a Tom Ford dress with embellished nipple pasties. She also hung out with Cara Delevingne and Joan Smalls after the Chanel show in March and has appeared on multiple magazine covers and red carpets wearing big name brands and has just been named the Creative Director of Puma.

Blake Lively
Style queen, icon and all round heavenly beauty Blake Lively is pretty much the perfect woman. No one can deny her sense of style, from wearing Gucci and Michael Kors on the red carpet or on the street, Blake never steps a Christian Louboutin-ed foot wrong. We could only gasp at Blake’s incredible style at the Cannes Film Festival and the Met Gala earlier this year, while simultaneously checking out her lifestyle blog, Preserve. Then, the unimaginable happened! Blake fell pregnant with the perfect male version of herself, Ryan Reynolds. Instead of cankles, sweats and flats, Blake just carried on her incredible style to become the most perfect pregnant woman, keeping her heels high and her dresses tight as she attended red carpet events. She even made her dark regrowth look like a fab fashion statement. Bravo Blake, bravo.

The Jenner Sisters/ Kim Kardashian-West
The Jenner sisters have proved that they won’t be standing in their older half-sisters’ limelight with the pair excelling in fashion and beauty. Kendall walked for Chanel, became friends with Cara Delevingne and wore some of the hottest and riskiest trends of the season, like that Fausto Puglisi gown at the MuchMusic Video Awards. Younger sis Kylie has teamed up with Bellami hair and designed a range of hair extensions as well as looking fierce and adapting a totally new look, including those over-drawn lips tat everyone talks about. Kimmy K, while a lot of people love to hate her, has been seen in some of the biggest designers this year and attended fashion weeks the globe over. Not to mention that gorgeous Givenchy gown that she got married in and that Vogue cover.

Rita Ora has been phenomenal on the red carpet this year, hitting the style ball out of the park on many occasions. The Brit star also designed a line for Adidas and is known for her outrageous fashion choices that often pay off. She’s good friends with Karl Lagerfeld and Cara Delevingne – any celebrity with them is important in fashion.

Olivia Palermo
With a collaboration with Altuzzura under her slim waist belt, Olivia Palermo continues to climb up the fashion stakes. Though she has been a little MIA this year, getting married to Johannes Huebl, Olivia has still been influential in her style, making fashion guides and even launched her edit at Chadstone in Melbourne. Giving fashion advice all over the world, Olivia has been influencing fashion from the get-go.
