Lets just start with THE gown of the evening. Rihanna in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture was everything at this years Grammys. It was pink, it was fluffy, and did we mention it was pink? The sheer volume of this dreamy dress, with its two layers of frou-frou and bejewelled strapless top could easily have overpowered RihRih, but her ability to rock any outfit made her the only one who could have pulled this off. Simple hair and barely-there makeup completed the look, and with that one dress, Rihanna won the Grammys.

She of no discernible music talent of her own, but conveniently married to one of music’s biggest and most outspoken names; Kim Kardashian, pulled out all the stops on the Grammys red carpet. Fresh from chopping her locks (yes, that haircut is ridiculously good), Kim was literally dripping in gold in Jean Paul Gaultier. The sequinned, belted (dressing) gown with a deep plunge and intricate beading was like a work of art, and Kim, all bronzed goddess that she is, looked undeniably stunning. You’ve got to hand it to Kanye, the man has style.

Pop princess and everyone’s ultimate girl crush, Taylor Swift, brought ladylike glamour with a twist in an ombre Elie Saab gown. With a colour scheme that shouldn’t work but did, T-Swift matched a shades of teal gown with purple shoes and gave everyone a new lesson on how to wear colour. It was demure and elegant, with a cut-out high neck, yet had just a touch of sexiness with an almost hidden mini skirt at the front. It was a flawless display from Swifty, who rarely puts a fashion foot wrong.

Queen Bey. Of course she looked great (Beyonce’s great is everyone else’s amazing BTW), but this black, super bling Proenza Schouler gown just left us wanting more. Sure, there isn’t really anything wrong with it, it’s just that we’ve come to expect so much from The Queen. Her mermaid hair is jealousy inducing, as are the jewels, and we can’t fault the long sleeved, plunge gown itself, there just seems to be something missing. Beyonce may be playing it safe, but let’s have a little more wow-factor next time, ok Bey?!

Mixing it up on the red carpet, Katy Perry was one of the only celebs to go for a shorter, midi length gown, in this bejewelled Zuhair Murad creation. The dress is a masterpiece, with dangling bead work and a silver, waist-cinching belt. And there is no such thing as too much bling for Perry, who complements the silver, sparkly gown with earrings that are equally as silver and sparkly. Nothing goes better though, then Perry’s lavender hued hair, which, in it’s cropped bob form, is completely on-trend. It’s also softening and girly, ideal for such a statement dress. We’re calling it: best hair of the Grammys.

Coming runner up in the the hair awards is Iggy Azalea, with a crown of braids and an equally regal, royal blue Armani gown. The gown itself is classic and beautiful, not to mention hugs Azalea’s curves in all the right places. The cut outs (who didn’t have cut outs at these Grammys!?) and cap sleeves are extremely flattering, as is the bronzed tan which is a noticeable change to Azalea’s normally porcelain skin. But it’s her braided hair which is the real masterpiece here, and while it may divide critics, we can’t help but love her confidence to totally pull this off. Who here hasn’t dreamed of a crown of braids?

Ok, where is the real Miley Cyrus and what have you done with her?! The normally raunchy, boundary-pushing Cyrus we have come accustomed to of late, has seemingly been replaced with this fresh-faced, healthy looking beauty! The black Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture gown with cut-outs and super low back is divine, and the perfect red carpet choice for Cyrus. It is just the right amount of edgy, without being too risque, and her slicked back, platinum crop completes this modern and (surprisingly) sophisticated look. And that’s not something we thought we’d be saying about Cyrus anytime soon!
