It’s that time of year where everyone is either working on their bikini bodies at the gym, cooling off at the beach or pool or just generally sweating it out under the sweltering sun. If you’re reluctant to leave the house completely bare-faced, we’ve got you covered with products that are sweat and water proof – tried and tested.
I’ll be the first to admit that going out and about without face makeup is the most daunting prospect. If you’re headed for a workout or for a relaxing swim but feel more confident with an extra boost of coverage, look out for products that claim to be long wearing, as they are generally sweat and water resistant. MAC’S Pro Longwear and Estee Lauder Double Wear collections (available from Myer and David Jones) include a range of different face products that promise to be budge-proof, no matter what environment you test them in.
To add a little colour to the cheeks, a lip/cheek stain such as Benefit’s cult favourite, Benetint ($55, available from Myer), is the safest bet for a natural flush of colour that will stick around all day.
The idea of having waterproof brows may seem peculiar to some, but the confidence in knowing that you won’t accidentally wipe away your eyebrows is definitely a reassurance for me! I wouldn’t be without Anastasia Beverley Hills DipBrow Pomade ($15.20, available from beautybay.com) for occasions when I need my brows on point for the whole day.
Gel eyeliner is definitely your new BFF when it comes to ensuring that sultry cat eye you’ve applied sticks around. Loreal Super Liner Gel Eyeliner ($24.95, available from Priceline) is a fantastic option.
A cream eyeshadow is a must if you want colour to last all day on your lids against the environment. I trust the affordable Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow ($11.95, available from Priceline) to set into place once dry and not slip-and-slide throughout the day.
And of course, waterproof mascaras are a total no-brainer when looking for makeup that stays in place this Summer. I swear by Covergirl’s Lash Blast Volume Waterproof ($17.95, available from Priceline) to not smudge, flake or budge despite the hoops I make it jump through.
When it comes to locking colour onto your lips, a product with a staining feature is definitely what you should look out for. Rimmel Provocalips Lip Colour ($17.95, available from Priceline), Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain ($25.95, available from Priceline) and Lime Crime Velvetines ($20, available from limecrime.com) are outrageously fun lip products that set into a water-resistant stain.
