Best Dressed At The British Fashion Awards

It would appear as though the who’s who of the fashion world is in London at the moment, what with a little thing called the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show having just wrapped up, and the 2014 British Fashion Awards also being held this week at the London Coliseum.

The ultra glam affair, which brought together celebrities from the modelling, fashion, music and movie industries, is about celebrating the success and innovation of the best in British design. With awards including Best Red Carpet Design, Best Brand and Best Model, and a guest list that name dropped the likes of Rihanna, Cara Delevingne, Anna Wintour and Victoria Beckham, it was always going to be a night of high fashion and frivolity, and the Brits did not disappoint.

Emma Watson; style goddess, feminist and girl we would most like to be BFFs with (can you tell we adore her?!), was her usual chic, understated self in a Misha Nonoo white jumpsuit with over-sized blazer. Her simple, glossy hair and makeup was flawless, allowing for the long, clean lines of the outfit to shine. Things got even better once the jacket came off, with Watson revealing a plunging, halter neckline adorned with the daintiest of body chains (being snapped on the arm of Harry Styles certainly didn’t hurt either!).  Receiving the British Style Award for ’embodying the spirit of British fashion’ and for being an ‘international ambassador for London as a leading creative fashion capital’, it is not hard to see why Watson was given such an honour, as she consistently exudes London class and charm.

Also rocking the over-sized blazer (just without anything else on underneath) was fearless fashionista, Rihanna. The Stella McCartney velvet jacket was accessorized with stockings, diamond choker and a whole lot of sass, with Rihanna pulling it off in only a way she could. It was a brave choice, but one we’ve become accustomed to with Rihanna, who continually divides critics with her risky looks. Overall though, the top knot is gorgeous, her makeup divine, and with a body like that, why shouldn’t she flaunt it? In a sea of long gowns and safe fashion choices, it is exciting to see Rihanna shake things up on the red carpet.

Cara Delevingne, British Fashion Awards, Burberry, Red Carpet, Fashion

A best dressed list for any British fashion event would not be complete without ultimate Brit It-Girl Cara Delevingne. The supermodel was (of course) the recipient of the Model of the Year award, and could not have shined any brighter in a sequinned Burberry gown. The black paneling and thigh high split gave the dress a more Cara-esque edge and her fresh brunette tresses teamed with a smokey eye added to the attitude of the look. There is not much Delevingne can do wrong at the moment, from starring in Chanel film campaigns and walking in the Chanel Metiers d’Art show, working on Hollywood blockbusters and continuing to look ridiculously good at every opportunity, making the Model of the Year award rightly deserved.

Kendall Jenner, British Fashion Awards, Emilio Pucci, Red Carpet Style, Fashion

We know we’ve mentioned it before, but SERIOUSLY! Is there anything Kendall Jenner can’t do? She truly is the model of the moment, what with her appointment as the new face of Estee Lauder, also walking in the Chanel Metiers d’Art show with gal pal Cara Delevingne, and unveiling multiple, unrecognisable looks for Dazed magazine (who needs Victoria’s Secret?!). It was another day at the office for Jenner, turning up in a Emilio Pucci monochrome jumpsuit and basically looking amazing. Jenner knows what works for her, having worked a jumpsuit or two in the past, and this one perfectly shows off her lean body and elongates those already long legs. Mesh heels, a red lip and sleek hair complete the look and voila! A fashion 101 on Kendall Jenner’s red carpet style.

Victoria Beckham, British Fashion Awards, Red Carpet Style, Best Brand, Designer

Victoria Beckham took a risk of her own on the red carpet, shunning the typical black tie dress code and going for something a little more dressed down. It paid off though, with the designer looking sophisticated and elegant in a knitted jumper with cutout back and pleated two-tone skirt of her own label, both featuring her signature chain detailing. With her acceptance into the elite fashion world well and truly complete, Beckham also picked up the Best Brand award for ‘a brand that has made an impact on the international stage over the past year’. There is no better ambassador for the brand then the woman herself, and wearing her own designs makes not only Beckham herself, but the brand as well, appear more relatable and appealing. Let’s be honest though, her best accessory was husband David Beckham, and together the two were the power couple/most adorable pair of the evening.
